Everett Carlson

Guitar, Electric Bass, Ukulele, Percussion, Piano Instructor

Everett Carlson has been playing music since he was 8 years old. Everett started learning on his own but quickly realized he would benefit from private lessons, so he began taking lessons at Beacock Music at their former location on Mill Plain.

After graduating high school Everett went directly into the music industry, recording and performing with many great Portland artists. At the age of 24, Everett was offered the opportunity to play drums with 80’s hit artist Tommy Tutone, famous for his 1981 song “Jenny/867-5309”. The gig was originally supposed to be just for one show, but front-man Tommy Heath was so impressed with the band dynamics, which included guitarist Kerry Movassagh and bassist Federico Pol, that Everett became Tommy’s steady drummer for the next 6 years. Over this period Everett traveled the U.S. and Canada to play at sold out 80’s music festivals.

Everett has been a private music instructor since 2008. He has taught hundreds of students, ages ranging from 4 years old to retirees and continues to specialize in guitar, electric bass and drums. Additionally, Everett is highly skilled at singer/songwriter instruction including basic vocals and music recording as well as teaching beginning piano and ukulele students. Everett fully believes in the power of music to improve one’s personal life in every aspect.
